Roads and Infrastructure

Road construction

Lake County has pressing infrastructure needs, and it is important to work closely with Springfield to secure funding where possible. In June 2019 Sandy met with Governor Pritzker to discuss Lake County’s infrastructure needs, and she joined other Lake County leaders to present these needs before the Illinois Senate Subcommittee on Capital hearing that was held here in Lake County.

The Illinois General Assembly has approved a $45 billion statewide construction program. This new funding will enable the Illinois Department of Transportation to implement projects on Lake County's State Highway Consensus Plan, which has a backlog of over $1 billion worth of projects on state routes in Lake County.

On July 1, 2019, Governor Pritzker announced that more than $200 million of the state's Rebuild Illinois Capital and Transportation programs has been earmarked for projects in Lake County.
